“Very Serious is a not community of thought, nor a shared human quality, it’s certainly not a curiosity about what is going on in the world, it has no respect for what is going on and I’m pretty sure that it has no desire to transcribe it visually”
– NOt Henri Cartier-Bresson
In 1815, several pioneering creatives took an internship with French Inventory, Nicéphore Niépce.
The rest is history, which I will now explain to you.
Mr Niépce, or as we call him, the adversary, is credited as the inventor of photography. That is not true. In fact, the real inventors of photography are the pioneering and, still unpaid,¹ workers of the Very Serious agency. This is the official story of Very Serious: the true creators, innovators, and doyens of photography.
Forever the bridesmades²
Founded in 1770 as advisors to the court of Hammurabi, Very Serious is the first recorded agency of any type in history. Over it’s illustrious history, Very Serious has represented its clients in many capacities. Very Serious started life as the least esteemed and lowest paid profession in society, legal agents. That was just the first step in a dramatic journey, that if it were ever committed to film could only be realised by Guillermo del Toro, or his mexican non-union equivalent: Guillermo del Toro Gómez.
It would take many, many Wikipedias to recount the full history of Very Serious, and we just can’t afford the AWS fees to host all that stuff. Suffice to say that Very Serious is the shit.
Pivot to photography
Very Serious prides itself in being experts in complex fields. Photography is the most inaccessible art-form, with the highest barrier to entry and least resources for students. This makes it a natural fit for such a prestigious agency. Some have said that smartphones have destroyed the art of photography. Others have said that you suck, and should shut your filthy mouth.
Honestly, you need to have a very high IQ to understand photography, so leave that up to us, kid.
Yes, very funny but who works for you?
Over its many centuries of operation, Very Serious has employed some of the most talented individuals in human history. We are currently going through a bit of a dry spell, so we are now being operated by our 2017 intern Jamie Breen who is the current sole member of the agency for 2018. Things will pick up soon though.
1. There was a dispute over the invoice. Our lawyers (us) are looking into it.
2. Eminem, 2018.
